CORONACH - The Town of Coronach recently announced that the Old Coronach Street Festival is the recipient of two Communities in Bloom Awards for Community Appearance and Volunteer Recognition.
The Community Appearance Award recognizes the four murals completed by the festival throughout the community by the Old Coronach Street Festival Committee. Two murals were completed in the downtown area within the last three years and accompany pocket parks that were completed following the demolition of vacant buildings.
In 2023, two more murals were completed at the Coronach District Museum. The two murals on the museum were significant to the community as the aging exterior needed a refresh. The murals were placed on two different sides of the building, significantly impacting the exterior appearance.
The Old Coronach Street Festival committee was awarded the Volunteer Recognition Award to recognize the individuals who organize the annual event filled with family fun, entertainment, a car show, a vendor market and more.
The committee’s goal is to raise enough sponsorship to cover the event’s expenses so any proceeds directly from the event can go into beautification projects in the community.
The committee has completed four large murals in the past four years, purchased six large self-watering pots, and flowers. The community is lucky to have this group going above and beyond to help the community look great.

Communities in Bloom is a volunteer and partnership-driven organization that uses a multi-tiered competitive evaluation process to foster community strength, involvement and continuous improvement. This is accomplished by nurturing environmental sustainability, enhancements of green spaces, and heritage conservation, in cultural and natural environments encompassing municipal, residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.
