WEYBURN - I love puzzles. Jigsaw, word search, Wordle, Sudoku, Scrabble… give me any kind of puzzle and I’ll be happy.
You can find me watching Wheel of Fortune, Don’t Forget The Lyrics, Jeopardy and a host of TV puzzle and trivia games in the evenings (when there isn’t a football game).
I yell at the TV and try to guess the puzzle before the contestant does.
You may notice something puzzling in today’s paper. It’s the answer grid on page 9.
If you are wondering why we’ve included it, you may have missed last week’s Mammoth Crossword Puzzle.
The Mammoth puzzle, created by Monica Zurowski, is a feature that we’ve included in the Weyburn Review each January for the last several years.
With more than 170 clues, the puzzle includes pop culture, trivia and new events from the past year.
With the recent cold snap, this is the perfect time to sharpen your pencil and spend time indoors with this monstrous puzzle. We have extra copies of the January 10 paper available at the office if you missed it.
Speaking of cold snaps, I have to shout-out to those good Samaritans that have been out helping those who are stranded.
The weather has certainly changed from a few short weeks ago. It’s brisk, frigid, chilly or as my Mom would say “fresh”, out there.
No matter what you call it, it’s downright cold and it’s creating a bit of havoc for some of us.
From frozen pipes to slip and falls, winter is here, at least for a week or two!
There have been many residents unable to get their vehicles started, even when plugged in overnight.
Our community is blessed with good neighbours who will stop and give someone a boost or a push when stuck. Thank you to YOU!
