WEYBURN - The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings struggled during the SJHL Showcase, held in Warman from Sept. 25 to 28.
The Red Wings faced up against the Flin Flon Bombers during the SJHL Showcase, losing 4-1 on Monday night.
The Bombers scored one goal in the first period and two goals in the second to claim an early lead.
Kalin scored a powerplay goal for the lone goal for Weyburn, at the 6:35 mark in the third period. Eduard Wruck and Jackson Hassman provided the assists. The Bombers put an unassisted goal into the back of the Wings’ net with 20 seconds left in the game to claim the win. Dazza Mitchell was in net for the Wings for both games. He stopped 31 out of 34 shots.
The Red Wings then faced up against Battlefords North Stars on Tuesday afternoon. The North Stars claimed a 8-0 victory.
Boston Gelowitz was in goal for the Red Wings. He stopped 30 out of 38 attempts.
The Red Wings head to Estevan on Friday, Sept. 30, where they will continue their Highway 39 rivalry against the Bruins.
It is a busy weekend for the Red Wings, as they will host the Melville Millionaires on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Crescent Point Place. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
The Wings travel to Estevan for another game against the Bruins on Sunday, Oct. 2.
