SASKATCHEWAN - Conditions on Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Regina have improved since morning, although there are still some roads in the area that are not recommended for travel, due to packed snow, drifting snow and slush, or ice.
The is not recommending travel on Highway 2 from the Yellowhead to to Highway 11 or Highway 15 from near Kenaston to Nokomis, although the visibility is considered good except in the south.
Around Regina, the status is covered or partly covered. There is loose snow, slush, drifting snow and ice with poor visibility.
There is no weather alert by Environment Canada, but there is snow forecast for the area.
Meanwhile, Saskatchewan RCMP advise the public that winter weather is impacting road conditions throughout Saskatchewan.
The following factors are impacting road conditions and/or visibility:
- Ice
- Snow-covered lanes
- Drifting and blowing snow
- Road closures/detours
- Strong winds
Before travelling, say RCMP, check the weather and road conditions along your route. If poor weather or road conditions exist or are forecasted, consider delaying travel if possible. If travel is necessary, stay on roads that have recently received road maintenance. Travellers can access information on road conditions and track which roads have been plowed, salted, and/or sanded within the last two hours at (English only).
Saskatchewan RCMP remind the public to avoid calling 911 or local RCMP detachments for updates on road conditions. Calling 911 must be reserved for emergencies and crimes in progress, and using it in non-emergent situations could prevent someone with a life-threatening emergency from getting help.
