REGINA — While the government has said they should be rolling out next week, at least one of the eagerly awaited $500 affordability tax credit cheques promised by Premier Scott Moe is in the hands of a taxpayer.
All Saskatchewan residents who are 18 years of age or older as of Dec. 31, 2022, who have filed a tax return in Saskatchewan for the 2021 tax year, are to receive the one-time $500 SATC cheques. It is expected approximately 900,000 cheques will be delivered.
Oct. 31 was the deadline for people to have filed a tax return to be eligible for the $500. Minister of Finance Donna Harpauer told reporters last week that the Canada Revenue Agency was reporting, that among those who hadn’t yet filed taxes, there was a bump in the number of files coming in.
Moe announced the affordability measure in a video released on social media Aug. 22.
