REGINA - A special gift, "Tea With a Twist," is being delivered to Saskatchewan military families in a gesture to honour them and their service.
The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC), Provincial Military Liaison and the Government House Historical Society traditionally honours the families of active and retired Saskatchewan members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
"Our Saskatchewan service members have shown great dedication and commitment to the freedom, quality of life and opportunities we enjoy in Canada every day," Provincial Military Liaison Greg Lawrence said.
"Their sacrifice is shared by their families who supported them through good and bad times. We thank each and every one of them for their service, and hope this small gift can give them the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience at home with their loved ones."
The Tea with a Twist packages include everything needed to host a traditional afternoon tea. Fifty packages will be delivered to Saskatchewan military families this week. In the past, the PCC held an in-person gathering of veterans and their families. To keep everyone safe during the ongoing pandemic, yet still mark the important contributions of Saskatchewan's service members, this will be the second year that PCC and the Historical Society create and distribute these kits instead.
The packages are home-made by volunteers from the Government House Historical Society and will be delivered for distribution to the Military Family Resource Centre for Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Saskatchewan, located in Moose Jaw.
The kits include two tea cups
