REGINA — The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has offered a Birddog aircraft, 3,000 feet of hose and 10 firefighters to help fight the wildfires in California through a request for assistance from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC).
"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the wildfires in California," Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Tim McLeod said.
"In Saskatchewan, we know firsthand how devastating a fire can be, and offering our experienced members and equipment is exactly what being a good neighbour is all about."
The SPSA is waiting for a response from CIFFC regarding next steps in deploying these resources.
The SPSA provides support to other jurisdictions when a request is made through one of the agency's established mutual agreements or partnerships.
