With one exception, more voters are choosing to vote in advance in Saskatchewan's 14 federal ridings in this election compared to the last election.
An estimate released by Elections Canada said that 182,438 Saskatchewan residents voted at the advance polls in the 2021 federal election compared to 151,723 in 2019, a 20 per cent increase.
"I want to thank the electors who took advantage of advance polls for their patience and their help in making this a safe experience for everyone. I also want to thank the tens of thousands of election workers for making this possible," said Chief Electoral Officer Stéphane Perrault. "Canadians still have the opportunity to contribute to this great democratic exercise by voting on election day or by returning their special ballot before the Sept. 20 deadline."
The only Saskatchewan riding to see a decrease in advance voters is Saskatoon West, where 10,959 people voted in 2021 compared to 12,048 in 2019, a nine per cent decrease.
In terms of raw numbers, the largest increase was in Regina–Lewvan, where 18,740 votes, 3,999 more than 2019. Percentage-wise, the largest increase was in Cypress Hills–Grasslands, where 11,588 voted in 2021 compared to 8,544 in 2019, a 35.62 per cent increase.
