Inclement weather, deer lead to multiple collisions

Winter weather is expected to affect road conditions throughout the day on Nov. 19 in parts of Saskatchewan.

SASKATCHEWAN - Police responded to 14 vehicle collisions early Tuesday morning.

Between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Nov. 19, Saskatchewan RCMP received 14 reports of motor vehicle collisions. These include: 

  • Two reports of collisions involving wildlife (deer).
  • One report of a collision involving three vehicles in the Humboldt detachment area. The collision occurred approximately five kilometers west of Guernsey.
  • One report of a jackknifed semi in the Moose Jaw detachment area, approximately four kilometers west of Belle Plaine. The collision was determined to be weather-related. The collision clean-up is now complete.
  • One report of a vehicle in the ditch in the Fort Qu’Appelle detachment area as a result of poor road conditions.

No injuries were reported to police in relation to the motor vehicle collisions.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of a semi rollover on Highway 1, approximately 10 kilometres east of Indian Head. Saskatchewan RCMP are currently responding along with local fire and EMS. 

Winter weather is expected to affect road conditions throughout the day on Nov. 19 in parts of Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan RCMP remind the public to check road conditions/closures along their planned route of travel before hitting the roads. Travellers can access information on road conditions and track which roads have been plowed, salted, and/or sanded within the last two hours at the .
