Gas prices in Saskatchewan head down

Much lower gas prices are likely in the days ahead, says Gas Buddy analyst

SASKATCHEWAN - Across the province, average prices are 136.76 c/L, down 17.5 c/L from last week's 154.22 c/L, according to GasBuddy.

"With Canada's carbon tax pause now in effect, the average price of gasoline has dropped sharply, as expected—marking one of the largest single-week declines in Canadian gas prices we've ever seen and bringing prices to their lowest level since 2021," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

"While some regions were impacted by refinery issues that diluted or offset the full benefit of the tax pause, most Canadians saw a significant drop in both gasoline and diesel prices. At the same time, economic uncertainty is rising due to new U.S. tariffs on a wide range of countries, which has sent oil prices plummeting to levels not seen since the early days of the pandemic. Canadians shouldn't feel rushed to fill up, as these tariffs have sparked growing concerns about a global economic slowdown—one that could drive oil demand even lower. Much lower gas prices are likely in the days ahead."
