WEBSTER

It is with the utmost sadness that we share the loss of our husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend Barry Oswald Webster, who passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24th, 2025, surrounded by his family, holding the love of his life's hand.

Barry was born on May 30th, 1933, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He came from a family of 8 siblings - five brothers and three sisters. Barry had a passion for hockey at an early age, and goalie was his position. He was also one tough young man and had many stories to share with his grandkids about his fights! He joined the army as a young man and served for 4 years. Barry met the love of his life, Shirley, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario in 1953. They were married on Sept 3rd, 1955, and had a lifetime of happiness, raising a family and travelling.

In 1956, they started their family welcoming Brenda. Four years later, they welcomed Cindy, and two years later, Michael. In 1968, they moved their family to Burstall, Saskatchewan, where Barry worked for Trans Canada Pipeline. There, they established lifelong friendships and were a big part of the community. They then moved to Grenfell, SK for a brief time, after which the found themselves in Moose Jaw, SK. Barry worked at the Union Hospital as a Bio Tech and was also on the hospital board of directors. He then became the manager of Clorox Canada for 15 plus years until his retirement.

Barry’s passion for hockey followed him his entire life, and he was an imperative part of bringing the Moose Jaw Warriors to the city. He was governor for several years and has always had a passion for the team. Shirley and Barry have held season tickets for the entire time the Warriors have been in Moose Jaw. Although poor health in the last 2 years restricted him from going to all the games, Barry found so much joy in them winning the championship last year. Over those years, he had special bonds with many of the players, and they became family, and he maintained those friendships right up until his passing.

In his retirement years, there was no holding Barry back, he then became President on the board of directors for the Warriors and later opened a very successful home inspection business, working right to the ripe age of 88 years, and even then, it was hard to hold him back. He was a well-known businessman in the City of Moose Jaw and his feisty personality was like no other!

We say Barry had not just 9 lives but perhaps 99. His health had challenged him over the years, but he never gave up and was a fighter and fought right until the very end.

He was predeceased by his brothers and sister; son-in-law, Brian; grandson, Sean; and great-grandson, Liam. Barry leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley; children: Brenda (Ken) Krein, Cindy (Darrel) Price, and Mike (Cheryl) Webster; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Derek Krein, Jared (Rene) Krein and their children Noah and Lucas, DeeJay (Tasia) and their daughter Vanna, Kristen (Peli) Cama and their children Isabella, Dylan, and Kailani, Chad (Marisa) Webster, Catelyn (Chris) Gadd and their children Lincoln and Hazel; sisters Karen (Jack) and Freda; brother-in-law, Pat (Judy); sisters-in-law, Patricia (Jim) and Rachel; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

His children and grandchildren were all the lights of his life, and he would do anything for all of them, and he was their biggest cheerleader.
