Patricia Soiseth

In the early morning hours of January 14th Patricia Soiseth (nee Massey) passed away suddenly. Pat was born in Saskatoon in 1940, to Herbert and Elisabeth Massey. She attended Albert School and later, Nutana Collegiate. As a student she worked in the laundry department at the university hospital, and in the International Harvester parts department. She attained her bachelor of arts degree at the University of Saskatchewan and her bachelor of education degree at both U of S and the University of Regina.

Pat leaves behind her husband, Len Soiseth of Vernon, BC, son Alan (Yumi) of Coquitlam BC, son Dan (Nadia) of Vernon, as well as her four grandchildren: Alisa, Sasha, Loui and Nina. She also leaves behind her brother, Vic (Noreen), and sister, Barbara of Salmon Arm, plus numerous extended family members. She and Len lived in many communities over the years, moving around for Len's work. Starting with their marriage in 1963 they lived in Prince Albert, Vancouver, Regina, Vancouver again, Saskatoon, Melfort, Creighton, Regina again, North Battleford, and then Saskatoon again, where they retired. In 2022 they moved to Vernon BC. She was never one to complain about all the moves. With her positive outlook on life, she actually embraced these moves as opportunities to have new experiences and meet more people. While in Vancouver, she worked at the UBC student services office, in Regina she worked in the clerk’s office of the legislative building, and in other locations she utilized her BA and B Ed to follow her career as a teacher, both in high schools, and in the case of North Battleford at the regional college. She loved music and was an avid reader, and kept herself well informed of current and wide ranging political affairs. The shock of her sudden loss and the pain that it has afflicted clearly underscores the love that we have all felt for her and how very much she has meant to all of us. The results of the work that she has done, the care she provided and the example she set for so many will live on.

A celebration of life will be arranged and announced at a later date.
