Ben Korol

Bohdan ‘Ben’ Korol, beloved husband of the late Marlene Korol, passed away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on January 25, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Bohdan, affectionately known as Ben, was born on November 2, 1935, on the family farm to Mike and Julia (nee Pakosh) Korol. He was the fourth of eight children. Ben’s early education began at Donwell Public School, later completing his Grade 10 at Canora Composite High School.

Following his schooling, Ben devoted himself to working on the family farm while also seeking winter employment at his Uncle Peter Pakosh’s versatile manufacturing company in Winnipeg, MB.

In July 1960, Ben and Marlene (nee German) were united in marriage, celebrating 62 years of love and companionship until Marlene’s passing. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Donna, Brad, Lisa, and Darcy.

Ben's passions were plentiful, from his love of family vacations to his dedication to the Blue Jays baseball games. He had a profound connection to his faith, finding solace and joy in visiting rural churches. Ben was a proud member of the Order of Saint Andrews.

On January 25, 2025, Ben peacefully entered eternal rest after a brief illness. His life was a testament to love, faith, and family and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
