Albert Brent Miller: November 2nd 1942 – February 13th 2025
It is with our deepest regret to announce the passing of our brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend Brent on February 13th, 2025.
Brent was born in Bredenbury Saskatchewan on Nov. 2nd 1942 to Nellie and Hunter Miller. Brent spent his early years spending many hours with his Grandpa Thomas Porter while his dad was overseas during the war creating a lifelong bond with his Grandpa. Brent was an active young man playing hockey, curling, baseball and golf and he led an active lifestyle still running well into his 70’s. Brent maintained many of his childhood, high school and work friends as lifelong friends who he texted daily up until he went into hospital in January 2025.
Brent moved with his family to Fort St. John B.C. in 1959 where he completed high school and developed additional lifelong friendships. After Graduation Brent went to Vancouver and completed a degree in Business Administration before returning to Ft. St. John to work for Western Rock Bit starting a lifelong career in the Oil & Gas Industry which took him to Alaska, Nova Scotia and being part of the underwater crossing of the Pacific Ocean to Vancouver Island.
In 1970 Brent married Barbara Zadko and in true Brent fashion of caring for others less fortunate they became Foster Parents to several children. After several years as Foster Parents Brent and Barbara were blessed with Suzanne in 1974 and Christine in 1976 while residing in Edmonton. Brent, Barbara, Suzanne and Christine returned to Ft. St. John in 1978 where they enjoyed several years being close to friends and family before returning to Edmonton which became their permanent home up until their passing.
Brent was a very proud father but an even prouder grandfather to Hudson, Hyatt, Ole and Holten. Brent was always relaying to family and friends what his grandsons were doing and he loved to recount how much he enjoyed watching and hearing about their activities and accomplishments. Brent never forgot his roots, family and friends were his passion which is why he spent his leisure time visiting and holidaying with family and friends over the years.
Once Barbara became ill Brent shifted his focus to caring for her and even though it limited their ability to travel Brent still found a way to get out with Barbara for coffee, meals and a few trips. After Barbara’s passing Brent was able to travel more freely and used that time to go visit family and friends in Colorado, Ft. St. John, Prince George and a final solo drive back to Saskatchewan in 2023 to visit his relatives and childhood friends he had retained over the years.
Brent was predeceased by his wife Barbara, parents Hunter and Nellie, Mother and Father-in-law Zadko as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his grandparents. Brent will be deeply missed by his daughters Suzanne (Phillip) and Christine, grandsons Hudson, Hyatt, Ole and Holten, sister Margaret and brothers Vic and Bobby as well as many, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Brents name to either the heart, kidney or liver foundations or Bredenbury United Church. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
