WILKIE - The annual Interdenominational Christmas Service of Prayer and Remembrance was held in Wilkie, Dec. 10 at McLurg High School. It was another lovely evening with the community coming together to journey with neighbours and family through their grieving.
The attendance was smaller this year due to fewer community members passing and the colder, icy weather. The evening consisted of readings, a heartfelt message given by Deacon Dan, hymns and the candle ceremony. The lighting of a candle in memory of a loved one is such a beautiful way to honour them and the life they lived.
There were refreshments offered after the service where families had the opportunity to visit and support one another. Gerein Funeral Service and the Wilkie Pastoral Care team did a remarkable job once again for putting on the service every year. For anyone interested in joining the pastoral care team, new members are always welcome.
