Town of Kerrobert seeks information on theft from arena

Theft and vandalism leaves Town of Kerrobert looking for answers.

KERROBERT – The Town of Kerrobert is seeking help from the community regarding a theft that took place at the Kerrobert Memorial Arena.

Marli Shepherd, Kerrobert’s Director of Culture and Recreation said the theft occurred sometime between the dates May 13 and 15.

“The ice measuring and maintenance tools, power tools such as drills and impact drivers and many of our hand tools were all stolen,” she said.

Although Shepherd did not have a total dollar value of all the items stolen but did estimate more than $5,000 worth of tools were taken.

The town also took to their social media accounts on May 29, announcing the Poolside Park washrooms will be closed immediately, with uncertainty if they will be open at all this season.

The washrooms were vandalized, leaving a toilet tank lid shattered in pieces and both bowls full of dirt and a plunger left behind less than 12 hours after being opened for the season.

The two areas currently does not have security cameras and Shepherd did mention that “the Town is looking into cameras to prevent future break-ins and vandalism.”

Anyone with information on the break-in are encouraged to contact the town office or the Kerrobert RCMP at 306-834-6550.
