WILKIE - The collective sigh of relief was heard when Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association provided their return-to-play directive and it included all extra-curricular school sports.
Wilkie was thrilled to be the host community again, Sept 10-11, for their annual super-volley event, which is a back-to-back weekend volleyball tournament that begins with senior boy/girls’ teams and moves to the junior divisions for both boys/girls the following weekend.
McLurg Principal and volleyball coach, Greg Mamer, says of the weekend, “We are happy with the turnout and it felt like people wanted an excuse to get out and this option was perfect for doing just that.”
The Wilkie girls’ team played well on Saturday but costly mistakes at critical times bit them for their playoff hopes.
