WILKIE — The Sask. West Hockey League will be having their fall organizational and scheduling meeting in early October, planning for seven teams that will part of the SWHL.
Kindersley, Biggar, Macklin, Unity, Wilkie, Edam and Hafford will continue to play as part of the senior men's hockey league.
“Of course, we were disappointed to see Kerrobert and Dosland move to the new league," league president Joe Cey says.
"However, I totally understand to the decision to go to a league without imports, thus saving those organizations that additional expense.”
Cey says costs involved in operating a senior hockey team continue to grow.
“We are looking forward to highly competitive and exciting SWHL season. I wish all the best to the newly formed Cross Roads Hockey League, with teams in Kerroberrt, Luseland, Dodsland and Kindersley,” adds the SWHL president.
As community arenas begin to open, senior teams will start skating. Once the league organizational meeting is complete, teams will begin practices for their season. SWHL season starts in early November and goes until February, with playoffs beginning shortly thereafter. You can follow your community’s team on Facebook.
The SWHL championship was won last season by the Wilkie Outlaws.
