LUSELAND — Luseland School is one of 10 schools in the province that will receive a $15,000 grant to support student nutrition as part of the Mosaic School Nutrition Challenge.
For 2023, the project funding was increased from $10,000 to $15,000 to reflect rising costs and greater needs. Each of the 10 schools that were announced as winners are helping create a healthier school nutrition environment for kids.
The Saskatchewan School Boards’ media release states, “The grants will support winning projects that have goals including implementing or expanding nutrition programs, enhancing kitchen and garden facilities, increasing educational opportunities for students and families and supporting reconciliation and cultural projects.”
Luseland was the only Living Sky School Division school named as a winner.
The program was formerly known as Mosaic Extreme School Makeover Challenge, and it began in 2006.
Luseland School project submission was for enhancing existing agriculture programs, implementing daily universal breakfast and implementing a weekly hot lunch.
