KERROBERT — As posted on the Town of Kerrobert Culture and Recreation social media page, “Volunteers are a huge part of our community and always appreciated.”
The ice surface was prepared by many community volunteers.
Recreation Director Marli Shepherd notes the floor cleaning at the rink is important to ensure a clean surface is ready to start the ice-making process.
Kerrobert Fire and Rescue came out to clean the floor and were aided by Kerrobert Composite School students, who are part of a school volunteer group. Town staff and other community volunteers lent their hands to help lighten the load. The preliminary work will go a long way in making the ice and having the rink ready to go for Oct. 1.
Kerrobert currently has a call out for community members to come out to National Tree Day on Sept. 20, registered with Tree Canada. The town has the trees and the prep work has been done however they are looking for volunteers to plant some trees to help make the fairgrounds a little greener.
The Kerrobert Wildlife Federation spent much time Sept. 10 on dock completion and installation at the Kerrobert Reservoir. Additional contributions from area businesses helped lessen the expenses for the group.
Another group of volunteers is currently fine-tuning plans for the upcoming Kerrobert Harvest Festival, Oct. 6-7. The event includes dozens of community members collaborating to host multiple activities as part of the weekend’s celebration.
Kerrobert Communities in Bloom handed out their Stake Winners on Sept. 1. The committee is lauded for their ongoing spring and summer efforts to beautify the community while enlisting residents to do the same.
