Local students race to personal bests

Cross-country teams did their schools proud with great times and personal bests at the provincial meet.

UNITY — Students from the area participated in the BattleWest Regional Cross-Country meet on Oct. 5 at Little Loon.

The novice boys’ category had Owen from Norman Carter come in fifth and Unity Public had Maddox and Ryker place seventh and ninth. Novice girls’ saw ninth and 10th place was secured by Casey from Norman Carter and Layne from St. Peter’s.

Peewee boys’ had Van from St. Peter’s take fourth and Jinks from Unity Composite High School take ninth. A UCHS student took home fourth and Jorja from Kerrobert placed 10th.

The bantam boys’ event saw Exzavior from Luseland in second, Brady from UCHS in third, Walker from McLurg in fourth, fifth for Jimmy, sixth for Daygen and eighth for Christian all from UCHS.

The intermediate boys’ category saw Lucas from UCHS place third and Ty from Macklin place fifth. The girls from Luseland had Lily take home the bronze and Natalie came in seventh.

The junior boys’ category had Kerrobert student Bronc take silver, UCHS student Willem in fourth and McLurg student Jeremy in fifth.

UCHS saw senior boys’ contender Carsen win gold, Jamal take silver, Steyn in fourth while McLurg had Luke come in sixth and Luseland student Foxtyn come in seventh. For the senior girls, Olivia from Luseland secured fourth.

Intermediate, junior and senior students travelled to Regina for the SHSSA Provincial Cross-Country meet Oct. 14. The results were as follows:

Intermediate boys: Ty S. Macklin-79th

Intermediate girls: Lily H. Luseland-28th

Junior boys: Bronc J. Kerrobert- 35th

                   Jeremy G. McLurg- 101st

                   Willem H. UCHS- 103rd

Senior boys: Carsen D. UCHS-25th

                    Jamal S. UCHS- 46th

                    Steyn H. UCHS- 55th

                    Luke G. McLurg- 76th

                    Foxtyn B. Luseland- 106th
