KERROBERT — We were glad to see that the weather hold up long enough for the harvest to be completed.
Harvest Festival in Kerrobert went over well with good attendance for all the weekend’s offerings. The parade was nice to see, since we haven’t had a parade since 2018.
I had mentioned in my last article that our arena’s 75th anniversary would be held during the Harvest Festival weekend, however the weekend became too busy, and we want to ensure our old historic barn gets the celebration it deserves. No date has been set yet.
The Kerrobert Sports Auction will be held on Nov. 12. This year the group was able to get NHL great, Bryan Trottier, to come as the guest speaker. Bryan is from Val Marie. He has won four Stanley Cups as a player with the New York Islanders, two as a player with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and one as an assistant coach of the Colorado Avalanche. Bryan has many trophies to his name, such as the Calder Memorial Trophy for rookie of the year. He has won the Hart Memorial Trophy for league MVP and the Conn-Smythe trophy for playoff MVP during his NHL career. We are looking forward to Bryan coming out to make this evening extra special.
We have had several new members join our Chamber of Commerce. They have wasted no time implementing new ideas and are a welcome addition to our group. The chamber has been working on several projects over the last few years. One of the projects is a new sign corridor entering our community from each direction, and I am happy to report the signs are up with a few extra frames put up for additional businesses to advertise.
The town of Kerrobert will be working on budgets for the upcoming year. We will have numbers finalized regarding Phase 1 of water/sewer line replacement and paving project. Those details will be reported at a town hall meeting coming up Nov. 9.
We haven’t been able to have a town hall meeting for a couple of years due to COVID restrictions, but now that we are back to normal, we can finally lay out some plans and listen to some concerns our community may have.
