CWL hosts speakers for Mental Health Awareness week

St. James Christian Women's League in Wilkie recognizes Mental Health Awareness Week with guest speakers.

Service pins were presented to members of the St. James CWL on April 26 during the feast day of Our Lady of Good Council. Recipients Monica Laturnus, Veronica Zimmer, Irene Gerein, Rose Reiniger, Beverley Barth and Mary Nestmann with membership administrator, Sophie Metlewsky.

WILKIE — Wilkie’s St. James CWL hosted a mental health awareness evening, April 24, with guest speakers from the Battleford's branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and Prairie Sky Recovery Center at Leipzig.

An abundance of information was shared. Handouts were available to share what help is available for youth and adults who are struggling. Money raised from the collection at the door, silent auction, 50/50, door prizes and sale of positive messages and items, will be donated to the Battleford's branch of the CMHA and Prairie Sky Recovery Center.

The CWL also celebrated the feast day of Our Lady of Good Council April 26 at Bethany Assisted Living in Wilkie. This event also saw service award pins presented to members. Ladies who received their service award pins were Monica Laturnus (65 years), Veronica Zimmer (65 years), Irene Gerein (70 years), Rose Reiniger (50 years), Beverley Barth (25 years) and Mary Nestmann (50 years). Sophie Metlewsky is membership administrator.

Missing from the photo are Ruth Weber (30 years), Rachel Mamer (10 years), Allison (Cey) Bertoia (10 years) and Carla Lang (give years).
