Communities observe Remembrance Day

Communities observe Remembrance Day through a number of services.

UNITY, KERROBERT, WILKIE — The communities of Kerrobert, Unity and Wilkie observed Remembrance Day in a variety of ways.

Kerrobert Composite School service held on Nov. 10 included reflection and a wreath laying ceremony.

Kerrobert Legion hosted a service at the Kinsmen/Legion Hall that included individual recognition of a number of the community's veterans. The well-attended service was followed by a luncheon.

Unity's Parkview Place senior assisted living facility hosted an in-house service Nov. 10 for residents and staff. Two of Parkview's residents, George Ward and Bill Meek, both Unity Legion members, were joined by retired Canadian naval officer, Mike Ball, in leading the ceremony.

Wilkie Legion organized a community service that was attended by 150 people.  Following the service a special luncheon, hosted by the Wilkie Elks Club, was served for those who chose to participate and around 100 were in attendance. Wilkie schools held their school ceremonies the day previous for students, staff and families.
