UNITY — Parkview Place held a special event June 22 for those that have impacted the lives of residents at the senior assisted living centre as well as acknowledge their contributions.
“One of the long-time supporters and former board member, Butch Boskill, describes Parkview Place as a monument to Unity, noting it is truly a facility to be treasured and nurtured,” Parkview Place Manager Paula Sittler says.
“Love and care start with people that support the vision of what Parkview Place has to offer.”
Sittler said she was recently approached by a developer looking to create a seniors’ assisted living facility in Watrous. The gentleman stopped in and was struck by the sense of community, atmosphere and overall operating model of Parkview Place saying, “there are no other facilities in Saskatchewan quite like Parkview Place.”
The evening included many of the champions behind this model facility who were recognized with Celebrate of Service certificates.
Parkview’s board of directors was recognized. The board includes four appointed members, one from each of the supporting RMs and a Town of Unity rep. There are also six elected members-at-large from their annual generation meeting. These people include Butch Boskill, Elaine Sperle, Francis Zunti, Tom Stephenson, Lorne Fell and Ben Weber.
Evening’s acknowledgements also went out to residents who have called Parkview Place home for many years. Mel Sperle 11 years, Adam Tuchscherer 10 years, Ilene Peterson eight years, Virginia Ackerman seven years, Mary Leier seven years, Evelyn Leeson six years and Germaine Boser five years.
In attendance were Dr Esabameh and her children, Dr Shah and Dr Choong, Brad Ireland (RM of Round Valley reeve), Mayor Del Frari, councillors Bob Abel and Ryan Sernecky, and seven of the ten board members.
The final part of the program introduced the three doctors currently practising in Unity.
Sittler says, “The doctors in this community support are residents in many ways that are quite obvious; however, we have to realized just how fortunate we are to have our clinic and hospital and to connect this service to the continued success of Parkview Place.”
One of the main reasons that Unity is able to succeed in housing seniors is the team of medical professional. Communities that lack consistent health services, struggle to keep facilities like this at or near full occupancy. Sittler added thanks and appreciation on behalf of everyone at Parkview Place for Unity doctors that have chosen Unity as their home and in doing so, help ensure a safe and secure home for the community’s seniors.
The evening concluded with tours, cake, and an opportunity to meet and greet both builders, board members and residents.
