Winning the Most Valuable Player award, presented at a West Central Senior Hockey League semifinal playoff game between Unity and Provost, was Bob Schwab. Vern Schaab and Jerome Keller shared the trophy for best goal-keeping average in the league.
Timothy Freistadt, a student at St. George School in Wilkie, received an honourable mention for an outstanding entry in the Annual Canada Permanent Trust Writing Contest, a national creative writing contest.

Wilkie’s Morgan Cey, playing for Notre Dame, was named defensive player of the week by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. In two games, both won by Notre Dame 3-2, he stopped 65 of 69 shots for a save percentage of .942.
Christine Ryan of Unity won the Saskatchewan United Nations Pilgramage for Youth Speak-Off in Regina, earning a special two-week students’ summer tour through Ottawa, Washington, Gettysburg, New York and the United Nations.
Competing for the title of Wilkie Skating Club Carnival Queen were Erin Exley, Courtney Nielsen and Denee Keller.
