Unity and Wilkie clashed in the first midget hockey action of the season. Game stars were Byron Merkosky, Dale Robertson and Bruce Leier for Unity; and Kevin Cey, G. Keller and Hoffart (no first name given) for Wilkie.
Matt Wildeman, Delta Co-op service station manager, and the members of his staff were presented with an Award of Excellence by Federated Co-operatives Limited.

The opening of Wilkie’s “new and improved” recycling centre was announced, with large green bins set up on Railway Avenue, across from the CPR station.
Seven people out of the 8,000-plus participating in a marathon at Victoria, B.C. were children and grandchildren of Ed and Yvonne Keller. These runners were Charles, Alan and Ian Keller; Yvette and Abra Gruber, Alyssa Weninger and Jared Jungwirth.
Unity residents and the business community were excited about the possibilities to draw in more highway traffic when Brent Hepting started construction of a building at the corner of Highways 14 and 21, which would house a Subway franchise.
