Saskatoon neighbourhoods experience power outage

The power was fully restored at around 4 p.m.

SASKATOON — Many neighbourhoods, mainly northwest of the city, experienced a power outage for almost two hours on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The power outage was reported at 1:45 p.m., with some areas having electricity for about five minutes before it went out again.

Some of the affected areas in the city are Macnab Park, North Industrial and parts of River Heights in the north, Mayfair, Caswell Hill, Westmount, Mt. Royal and the eastern half of Westview in the west, and Sutherland and certain portions of Grosvenor Park, Varsity View, Nutana and College Park.

The power was fully restored at around 4 p.m.

The city’s electrical crews worked to restore the power quickly after identifying the problem, where they repaired damage to the electrical equipment due to the failure of transformers and underground cable faults. It was not specified where in the city caused the power outage.

The power outage caused slight traffic build-up in certain intersections as there were no lights to control the flow of vehicles. Motorists used the four-way stop rule.
