SASKATOON — He already had several charges against him, but he made it worse by spitting and biting once arriving at the Saskatoon Police Services detention facility.
Police say a 22-year-old man is facing new charges after he assaulted a constable Tuesday night.
Just after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, police received a report of a weapons call in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West. They found out a man had been removed from the address earlier in the day but had returned.
Arriving officers located the man and arrested him for a weapons investigation. During the investigation, say police, the man was providing false names to police and was being disruptive. It is believed he was under the influence of an intoxicant. Police were able to identify the man and learned he had several warrants out of Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
Shortly after arriving at SPS Detention, the man continued his disruptive behaviour; spitting at and biting a constable. During a search of his person, a small knife was located.
As a result, he was charged with various weapons offences, obstruction of police, and two counts of assaulting a police officer. The man was also found to be breaching his court-ordered conditions.
