PRINCE ALBERT - Members of the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) arrested and charged a 22-year-old man with a number of different offences after an evade police incident Friday night.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 10, while on regular patrol, officers observed a vehicle believed to have been involved in multiple prior evade police incidents driving in the 2800 block of 6th Avenue East.

The driver of the vehicle began to taunt police officers and a vehicle stop was attempted.

The vehicle began to evade police, and officers disengaged in order to maintain public safety.

Officers located the vehicle again in the 2800 block of 5th Avenue East and the driver once again began to taunt police.

Shortly after, officers located a two-vehicle collision in the area of 6th Avenue East and 28th Street East where the suspect vehicle had been involved.

Police quickly learned the suspect had fled on foot southbound; officers located and arrested the man shortly after.

Officers then searched the vehicle and located suspected methamphetamine.

The occupant of the other vehicle involved in the collision was treated by paramedics on scene and transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, the 22-year-old man has been charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving, impaired driving, failure or refusal to provide sample, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine, evading police, operating a vehicle while prohibited, and failure to comply with a probation order.

He made his first court appearance Monday morning.
