Your full page review of the of the achievements of Claude Resources ("Gold mining prospects hot," Regional Optimist, April 6) in establishing a gold mine in Saskatchewan was impressive.
It is a matter of opinion, but I wonder if their achievements were of that great a value to the people of Saskatchewan, or did the million ounces of gold produced merely pass through our books while our government collected a pittance in royalties for all the expense of facilitating the project.
I am sure the ordinary shareholders have not received a penny for all their patience and hard earned money they invested in the project. Eventually we will be left with an enormous hole in the ground.
I readily admit that we should be thankful for the employment and industrial advancement these mining companies do provide for our province.
