It's a clear summer day, birds are singing exuberantly, oh how great it is to be alive!
Or it is? For many people, especially those who are going through that black cloud of depression, the answer is unfortunately, "No it is not."
If that is your response, I completely identify with you. I have been there, many times. It is the pits, isn't it?
One of the things that makes depression worse to deal with, is the fact that many people do not understand. They haven't been in that position, so it is difficult for them to understand. They make careless remarks such as, "Well, why doesn't he or she just 'snap out of it?" or other ridiculous comments.
For those of you who don't understand, please try to see that these comments hurt. Depressed people do try to pull themselves together, they also work really hard at trying to feel better. All to no avail, because depression is an illness. These negative comments just make a person feel more of a failure.
Of course I'm not talking about feelings that come and go like the wind, such as "blue days" or "off days." We all experience these from time to time, it's quite normal. What I'd like to suggest now is that if what you are feeling is real depression, then please get help. The symptoms don't just go away by themselves. Go see your doctor, you will be glad you did.
There are many reasons for depression and you need to find out what yours is and get it put right. Believe me it's not worth going from day to day feeling miserable, to say the least.
A good friend is always a blessing, they can be a great help and support.
I don't know whether you have a faith or not but if you do, remember that God is always there to help. I really don't know what I would do without Him.
I do hope this will help you in some way. Please feel free toe-mail me any time and if I can be of help in any way I will certainly do my best.
