Dear Editor
North Battleford has lost a legendary, tireless community servant. Canada has lost an outstanding national statesman.
My heartfelt condolences and my deep sympathy is extended to Lois and the entire Sparrow family.
Senator Sparrow loved the Red Chamber and he truly cherished the opportunity to serve Canadians.
Our community, Northwest Saskatchewan, has suffered a huge loss with Senator Sparrow's passing. Herb dedicated much of his lifetime to improving circumstances in the farming industry. Herb loved the land, he loved his cows and he reveled in his role as faithful steward of the farming industry.
Herb's record of service to those less fortunate than he will forever be recalled in the history of the Battlefords and the surrounding area.
The number of individuals, organizations and communities that have been beneficiaries of Herb's awesome energy and generosity may indeed be immeasurable. We can only pray Herb's terrific example of love will inspire individuals to come forward and carry on with the same sense of service to this in need in our community.
Personally, I have lost a visionary mentor, a wise teacher, a stern taskmaster and a dear, dear friend. We will all miss Senator Herb. Of this I am certain.
