Should be, but it ain't

Dear Editor, In 106 to 43 B.C.

Dear Editor,

In 106 to 43 B.C., Cicero the Roman statesman, stated; "the budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, the public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be controlled, assistance of foreign lands should be curtailed and the mob should be forced to work and not depend on the government for sustenance."

Boy, have we perfected that to the end degree. Over 2,050 years after Cicero, the budget is always overspent, the public debt sky-rocketed to the moon, the arrogance of officialdom: a $50 billion scam. Assistance to foreign lands controlled, curtailed as Afghanistan and the Islamic nations democratized, a useless sinkhole endeavour. The mob, the banks, the guy on the corner with his tin cup, hand outstretched, should be forced to do honest work and not depend on the government for sustenance.

Should be, but it ain't.
