Dear Editor
In reference to Brian Zinchuk's From the Top of the Pile, "Is it worth going to reunions" (News-Optimist Aug. 22), I can not agree with Brian on this one.
In 2010 I arranged with some high school friends (Battlefords Collegiate Institute) to have lunch in Battleford. Some who lived in Saskatoon expressed a desire to have lunchin Saskatoon instead. Naturally I was delighted to be able to lunch with both groups.
It was a unanimous decision that we should do it again in 2011, so I set out to organize it, some by letter, some by phone and some by email. In total I was able to meet 35 former BCI friends for lunch in Saskatoon, and again some others for lunch and dinner at the golf course in North Battleford
Since I have been laid up with a right hi replacement and a right knee replacement this spring and summer, my travelling has been curtailed. Most of the people I know from the Battlefords are wanting to meet again in 2013, to coincide with the North Battleford centennial and the Saskatchewan Hospital reunion. As well as attending BCI, many of my friends lived and went to the Hospital School like I did so we would like to get it all together.
Unfortunately, there have been no dates given for reunion type events in your paper, but as a long term subscriber, I will patiently watch for it.
Tell Brian that meeting with 35 former school mates was worth every call, stamp and email, and that I challenge him to try again
