Dear Editor
Somewhere over the past four weeks the change of the seasons took a left instead of a right, or at least it seems so with our third "blizzard" of the year already in the books.
However, fall is the time for changes and we have seen not just the weather change, but the civic governments of the Battlefords change as election season has come and gone.
We now have, at least here in Battleford, some new faces at new places and some new blood in the mayor's chair. There is one thing, however, that I hope does not undergo change.
While I did not always agree with the philosophies and actions of the previous Battleford council, they did get one particular thing very right. Having been a resident of the Battlefords for nearly 23 years, I can honestly say that over the past decade or so the town has sourced, hired and retained as good a group of employees as we could wish for.
I am speaking of the men and women who do the day-to-day work of actually looking after this fair town, and without whom we would be much less fortunate. My hat is off to all of them, for their unfailing hard work and pleasant manner, as well as the skills and dedication to get past the "good enough" syndrome.
So, to the new council, don't forget the people who make you look good!
