Dear Editor
I applaud Richard Hiebert for his zealous advocacy towards the creation of a dynamic senior's activity centre. However, I disagree with Hiebert's well-articulated desire to see our current aquatic centre re-purposed into this vision on the basis of its intrinsic historical significance.
To my way of thinking, this 47-year-old "Quonset style" asphalt-shingle-clad structure conceived and built during the architectural halcyon days of the 1960s is a poor candidate for historical preservation. True, the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre has served yeoman's duty to the people of the Battlefords for five decades, but its time has come to an evolutionary conclusion.
