Regarding "City pushes for downtown professional services" (Regional Optimist, May 6), after going through the news and letters to the editor, one wonders whether the decision by the City to reject the proposal amounts to some problem with the leadership.
There looks to be no other suitable building. Note it is important for professionals to be satisfied with their working place and surrounding conditions. Doctors are not machines.
They need a suitable environment in order to be able to deliver the best care possible. Health is one of the most important aspects of life.
Had the application been approved, it have become appropriate for the growth for the city and for the upgrading and betterment of health facilities for those with multiple health problems, who could access care in one place in the community.
Although some may not agree, my view is council and administration should have looked at a larger perspective of today's and tomorrow's needs, which are necessary of the progress of the city and community.
The public at large is not pleased with the decision.
Such facility opportunities to do not come every day and this decision may have lasting adverse affects.
Can it be called a lost opportunity, lack of vision or inadequate leadership?
In the end, can it be corrected?As the saying goes, "it is never too late for correcting wrong doings."
