Ministerial message: How is your spiritual wi-fi connection?

We have found out in the last few months how important good wi-fi service is. At times, that was the only way we were able to stay connected. We have gone to great lengths to have the strongest and most powerful Wi-Fi as possible, and felt like that the sky had fallen when our Wi-Fi failed us.

How much effort have we put into our spiritual wi-fi connection? The Bible has a lot to say about connecting and staying connected to our spiritual source of power.

There are two ways to stay connected spiritually. First of all, and most important, we need to be connected with Jesus.聽

He said in John 15: 鈥淚 am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener... Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me... For apart from me you can do nothing.鈥澛

How do we connect to Jesus? He wants to have a relationship with us.聽

It says in Revelation 3:20 that Jesus says, 鈥淟ook! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.鈥澛

We need to respond to Him by choosing to open our lives to Him, asking His forgiveness, and starting that relationship with Him. We stay connected to Jesus, the Vine, by spending time in prayer and reading the Bible to get to know Him better. We need to connect to Jesus in order to have 鈥渇ruit鈥 displayed in our lives such as love, joy, peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22 鈥 23).

We also need to be connected to each other. In the last few months we were forced to be apart, which can develop into a habit that God has not intended for us. Apart we are weaker and less effective as individuals and in fulfilling God鈥檚 plan for our lives. We need to make that extra effort to look for opportunities to connect with others to grow in our faith.聽

Instead of just going back to the old normal of occasional church attendance, we need to treasure the opportunities to attend church, get back into Bible studies, and have meaningful discussions with others about our faith.

What are you doing this summer to strengthen your spiritual wi-fi connection?
