We have been inundated with TV programs, articles, social media posts, videos, and radio concerning the global pandemic.
The Christmas season however, gives us the opportunity to shift our focus from fear and uncertainty to the joy and celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ into the earth. His birth caused quite a commotion back then and still is even today.
The arrival of the 鈥淟ight of the world鈥, into a world filled with so much darkness was very, very good news. A world filled with darkness is dysfunctional and hopeless. But thank God for the 鈥淟ight鈥 that God was sending to the earth to redeem mankind from sin and all that comes with darkness. The power in this good news is what has enabled it to be spoken of and spread throughout the world till today, 2,000 years later.
As we have entered into the Christmas season for 2020, the usual traditions we practice over the holidays may take on a new 鈥渓ook鈥 this year. However, the meaning and reason for Christmas will never change.
Jesus Christ鈥檚 birth took place to reconcile all people to the Heavenly Father. He was to provide the 鈥淲ay鈥 for a relationship with God directly.
Jesus said in John 14: 6, 鈥...I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.鈥
Wow. In other words Jesus was saying if we want access to the Father, He was the way to the Father. If we want truth, He is the truth. And if we want life, He is the life!
What good news in a time of hopelessness, crises, chaos and uncertainty. I would ask you to consider making the Lord Jesus your way, truth and life. He is perfect and steadfast. His love for you, moved Him to come into this world and sacrifice Himself for you, so that you would have eternal life.
All you need to do is say this simple prayer: 鈥淗eavenly Father, I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that He came to save me from my sin. Forgive me, wash and cleanse me. Thank you for the eternal life that comes with believing that Jesus is the Saviour of the world and my ransom for sin. Amen.鈥
