Light in the midst of dark

As I鈥檝e written in earlier articles, we鈥檝e all experienced or perhaps, are still experiencing, dark days. They鈥檙e no fun. This week, however, readers of my writing, but especially God Himself, recognized our collective need of light. How grateful I have been to catch such glimpses of life- and sanity-saving sunshine.

First of all, there鈥檚 a glimmer of hope coming from our health officials; as vaccinations are now being administered, there鈥檚 a sense of some 鈥渓ight at the end of the tunnel.鈥 Snags or otherwise, at least the procurement and procedures are under way.

Then, here in British Columbia, we鈥檝e received notice that effective immediately we can gather outdoor with friends or family within our bubble. Of course, precautions such as masks and social distancing are still required and, I suspect, they will be for months yet to come, but we can gather outside. Can鈥檛 wait to host some family for an afternoon tea or evening meal out on our deck. Viewing the ocean will be even more beautiful!

On a personal note, it鈥檚 you, my readers, who have buoyed my spirits to new heights this week. A number of emails and today, even a handwritten card from a friend and reader who resides in Hawaii, thanked me for my weekly articles and noted how they鈥檇 been encouraged by reading them. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Jesus reminds us that He is the Light of the world. (John 8:12) but the amazing thing, at least to me, is that when we make Him Lord of our lives, we automatically become part of that light. We can鈥檛 earn that, but we are responsible to let His Light shine through lives lived in obedience to Him.

For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.鈥 (Ephesians 5:8)
