Dear Editor
We need care homes for children in the Battlefords.
There are five group homes in North Battleford providing for those requiring 24-hour care for individuals18 years or older.
Anyone under18 years must be taken care of by the parent[s], or in many cases, a grandparent. This puts a great burden on the family.
Subsequently, the child has to be moved residences that provide the necessary care in Saskatoon or Regina, if and when there is a vacancy.
It seems unfair to have to send children so young, so far away from home for such care. They deserve to remain close to their family and friends as much as adults of 18, 48 or 88 years of age.
Are you in this situation? Our committee would like to hear from you.
