It's all about communication

Dear Editor

After reading your editorial in which you say you do not wish to ruffle feathers at City Hall and then reading the very combative reply from the communications co-ordinator, I have three comments to make.

First, the letter from the communications co-ordinator is so unpleasant, he has proven the editor's point. It is obvious that the editor has been burned and would want to tread softly if this is how Mr. Halstead communicates.

Secondly, it would seem to me the job of a communications co-ordinator would be communication , which implies the ability to get along with others, including the press, and being able to make points without anger and accusation. Communication is about coming to a common understanding without conflict, even when there is disagreement.

Third, why did the News-Optimist find out about the break in at the CuPlex long before receiving this news from City Hall? Was there simply a delay in communication? If so, that too is a failure of communication. It would seem to me the break in was a pretty newsworthy story.
