Humboldt ministerial Easter message: You’re fully covered

"Jesus did what it took to fully cover us! But just like I needed to decide to get house insurance before my house was taken I also need to accept what Jesus did for me on Good Friday," said layperson Heather Block.

"I can’t help but think of those words and the words that Jesus said on Good Friday, It is finished! Jesus did what it took to fully cover us!" said layperson Heather Block.

One year ago my sister, Colleen Gold, wrote this as they faced an incredible threat and I felt it would be so good to share as we enter into the Easter Season. Hope it blesses your heart as it did mine.

“I didn’t realize yesterday morning when I woke up that by the afternoon our home would be in jeopardy of been taken by fire. We were told to evacuate at about 5 p.m. We went to friends on the 351 highway that graciously gave us hugs, and offered anything we may have needed!

While there I received a call from a number I didn’t recognize, but when I answered I knew it was someone who knew what our afternoon had been about. He said, "This is Drew (our insurance broker)." He first said, "I am sorry for what has happened in the area, but wanted to call and reassure you that if the fire does take your home, ‘you’re fully covered!"

I can’t help but think of those words and the words that Jesus said on Good Friday, It is finished! Jesus did what it took to fully cover us! But just like I needed to decide to get house insurance before my house was taken I also need to accept what Jesus did for me on Good Friday. It’s not enough to know there is an insurance company and hope I think to get it the morning before I need it. Jesus offers now this undeserved gift for us. I can tell you to hear the words “you’re fully covered” when you need it is truly overwhelming.

It is finished! And I am so thankful for this undeserved gift. This makes me think of this song by the music group Selah:

“I will not boast in anything:

No gifts, no power, no wisdom,

But I will boast in Jesus Christ,

His death and resurrection.

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer,

But this I know with all my heart:

His wounds have paid my ransom.”

I don’t deserve the gift he has given me, but I will forever be eternally grateful!”
