This letter reflects upon the ancient issue of damage to vehicles. Whether its significant damage or minor incidents such as the common door ding, accidental or intentional, people need to be responsible for their actions.
In the last four months I have had to make three claims for vandalism and damage claims on my car. All occurred without any note left or person to speak with. From dents, cracks, and scratches to people walking on the hood and roof of my vehicle. This is completely unacceptable and I begin to wonder if people really care anymore.
Where is the common sense and respect for the property of others? A person works hard for what they have, and yet it seems the idea of respecting your neighbours and their property is nonexistent.
Of course the repercussion of these incidents is frustration and a constant out of pocket expense from the owner and the insurance company.
I am sure the individuals responsible will have excuses for this behavior and the damage they create. And at the end of the day, what can the victim of this really do?
If anything, I would like to ask the public at large to be more careful when parking, opening doors, driving in general and to please be aware of what is around them.
I would also like to ask for a little respect for the property of others. Treat it as if it were your own. Accidents do happen. If there is damage as a result stick around to meet with the owner or at least leave a note with your information. Be respectful, be responsible.
