I have something to say about "City pushes for Jesus is Alive site cleanup" (News-Optimist April 11).
Councillors said they wanted Olaf Peterson to clean up the rubble and pay his back taxes, or the City will have to do it. Who do they think is going to pay for all that? The people of North Battleford will. I think that that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. To get a person like Petersonto do anything, you need to be tougher than just saying, "clean it, or we will." If the City decides they want to clean the rubble, does the City think Peterson will stop them, or even pay? Comments like that just shows a lack of intelligence.
Of course, the article also states Counsellor Grace Lang said the City would want to clean up the rubble, because of safety issues. That's fine. We do want to live in a safe environment. But, why should the people of North Battleford have to pay?
I say to the councillors, think before you make your final decisions. Because I can guarantee, there will be a lot of angry people if you think you can make them pay for stupid decisions like that.
