Idly enjoying my breakfast this morning, I was suddenly acutely aware of the most melodious sounds echoing through the house. I ran to the back door quickly opening it, expecting to see the source of the magnificent choir.
There, high up in a tree by the corner of the church was a flock of birds heartily singing their delightful chorus. Because of the angle of the tree and the sun's position, it was impossible to identify the birds. However, the wonderful sounds were enough to make my day.
I expect most of you have a similar fascination for birds. Their alluring beauty and strange little antics keep me at the window far longer than I should.
As I was enthusiastically listening to the glorious birdsong, my mind wandered to those of you who are unable to hear. I cannot imagine how that must feel. It has to be extremely difficult for you, to say the least. I find it so hard to sit back and be quiet when some of our family members crank their music so high the house seems to shake. "Wake up and realize what you are doing to yourself and others."
Let's appreciate the gift of hearing we have been given and use it wisely. There may come a time when we lose it.
The same is true for the gift of sight. Most of us, at sometime, have put on a blindfold for as long as we could, just to experience a miniscule amount of blindness. It is of course so difficult to navigate. My heart goes out to all of you who suffer such a tremendous loss.
I am so thankful to God for my hearing and eyesight and being able to experience the wonders of God's creation.
We have now acquired six bird feeders and it has proven to be expensive. They earn their food though and they are worth it, especially when they sing to the world as they did this morning.
Have a great week and take care.
