I'm on my way to vote and the sign says "Bring ID," so I go home and get my driver's licence. The nasty lady at the polls takes one look and says "This is not good enough. Do you have an old power bill?" I asked one of the four or five voters I knew there to vouch for me and the lady still shook her head no. I left frustrated and humiliated. To make matters worse, my sister, who works in the NWT four months of the year had the proper ID. She, too, was refused because she had only been back for two months. She owns four houses and pays taxes on them all. I got home and calmed down, took out the driver's licence I had given the lady. I turned it around and there was a temporary licence with my physical address on it. She hadn't even bothered to turn it around, and I didn't go back.
