Defeat of Motion 312 a step back

Dear Editor With the recent defeat of this motion in parliament sends a serious message to Canadians who pride themselves on being free, intelligent and democratic.

Dear Editor

With the recent defeat of this motion in parliament sends a serious message to Canadians who pride themselves on being free, intelligent and democratic. Our once proud home and native land has lost a gigantic step in its quest for being a champion of free speech and equality.

The unborn who have no legal status in Canada have again been shunned and given no protection in the womb. It is not a religious issue but one of integrity and social justice. How can a nation claiming greatness, as we do, continue the destruction of the most innocent in society?

Another threat to our democratic system is the vitriol directed towards those who speak up for the unborn. The antics of Libby Davies and Joyce Arthur suggest there is no leeway for diversity among woman's opinions, thus forcing them to think along one narrow particular ideological viewpoint. This is most certainly a determent in a sophisticated society. The cookie-cutter mold they force woman to follow instead of allowing for diversity of opinion sends a foul stench into the air. This reeks of totalitarianism.

Media, including press and television, make no bones about where they stand and have solidly put their stamp on the pro-abortion side. Where oh where is our "free press" and voice of objectivity, it certainly does not exist in Canada.

There is an axiom that states quite plainly Canada's future: "[The world's great civilizations] have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, form dependency back to bondage."
