Dear Editor

First, on behalf of the North Battleford 2013 Centennial Historical Committee and the Battlefords Heritage Society, I would like to acknowledge and thank editor Becky Doig for her involvement in the Battlefords' history community and the company's more than generous donation of newspaper space to publish the society's articles and the Centennial Historical Committee's "North Battleford Notables" every Wednesday in the News-Optimist (52 in all by the end of 2013). Absolutely free. We appreciate it, and to show our appreciation, we are going to formally and publicly recognize Becky - soon. Look for it in the News-Optimist.

Second, with respect to the "North Battleford Notables" (published every Wednesday in the News-Optimist), I must belatedly give credit to the following for submitting drafts,Janet Odnokon (Regina) on Margaret Helen Stewart-Beach (Jan. 2), Nolys Waterhouse (North Battleford) on Otis Jones (Jan. 9) and Joyce George (North Battleford) for writing an excellent draft on Dr. James MacNeill (Jan. 16). Thank you, ladies.

Finally, for those of you who appreciate historical facts, there is a mistake in the essay on Dr. James MacNeill. In paragraph five, line two, "Weyburn" should be deleted and replaced with "Brandon." There you go, history buffs and aficionados, I've set the record straight.

Richard W. Hiebert,

President, Battlefords Heritage Society, and

City of North Battleford 2013 Centennial Historical Committee
